The new platform trend in the media and entertainment is “Streaming”. Well what is “streaming”, per the dictionary definition it is a method of transmitting or receiving data (especially video and audio material) over a computer network as a steady, continuous flow, allowing playback to proceed while subsequent data is being received. (google dictionary) Some networks that are more heard of than others (also called platforms in some terms) are Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and a number of other ones that I haven’t named. These streaming services have millions of subscribers and make purchasing CD’s pretty much obsolete. A music lover as myself I still would like to purchase CD’s for the physical aspect of reading about the project, yet also in addition streaming is so convenient, I believe it is cost effective as well except when you start to have more than two or more subscriptions to the streaming services. If you’re an online shopper or gmail subscriber you probably are already pre subscribed to a service “Amazon” or “Google Play Music.” Yes, Amazon also has a music streaming service and TV streaming service. The next thing I believe they may start doing is a not allowing people to video concerts and shows, but then the argument may arise on if someone is capturing a picture or recording the show to place for other viewers to see which can possibly take from artist revenue. Nevertheless, streaming services for music and TV is the new way to go it will alleviate CD’s and cable and also it will be easier on your pockets.
